Accounts for 22 percent of the shrimp of the whole country. Ca Mau Province strives to become the largest shrimp granary in Vietnam and the region. Processing industry of the province is mainly seafood processing. The value of shrimp export turnover is about 1 billion USD / year, accounting for about 30% of the shrimp export value of the whole country. Ca Mau is the unique province in the Mekong Delta with natural rainwater. Agricultural cultivation is not affected by the Mekong river water source; hence enjoying competitive advantage over other regions in the implementation of drainage standards and certification to enter difficult markets (Ex: Naturland shrimp, organic rice...)
Ca Mau is having Khanh An Industrial Park (235.86 ha), Nam Can Economic Zone (10,801.95 ha) towards establishing a new IP named Song Doc Industrial Park (145.45 ha). The province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is about VND 43,320 billion. The population of the province is about 1.24 million, the percentage of working age is 56% of the population; in which the trained labor force is 47% with the potential to provide labor for investors in the area. Export turnover reached USD1,168 million in which processed shrimp is USD1,115.24 million. Processing industry of the province is mainly seafood processing. The value of shrimp export turnover is about USD1 billion/ year accounting for about 30% of the shrimp export value of the whole country
The province converges waterways, roads and aviation routes such as National Road 1A, National Road 63, Phung Hiep National Highway, Southern Coastal Corridor, Ca Mau Airport (route Ca Mau - Ho Chi Minh City, 1 flight / day). Nam Can Port is an important port in the port system in the Mekong Delta and is convenient in expanding trade with other countries in the region. Cargo capacity through the port of over 100,000 tons/year; drawing investment for project of Hon Khoai general port, it can accommodate ships with a capacity of 250,000 DWT after completion
The province has industrial parks included: Khanh An Industrial Park (235.86 ha), Hoa Trung Industrial Park (326 ha), Nam Can Economic Zone (10,801.95 ha), service and residential areas Nam Can (91.43 ha), Song Doc Industrial Park (145.45 ha), 3 industrial clusters included ward 8, Tan Xuyen and Ca Mau gas - electricity - fertilizer industrial cluster owned by Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with an investment of over USD2 billion. In particular, including PM3 - Ca Mau gas pipeline project, capacity of 2 billion cubic meters/ year, 2 power plants of Ca Mau 1 and Ca Mau 2 with a total capacity of 1,500 MW and a nitrogen plant with a capacity of 800,000 tons/year
There are 29 proposed projects with a total capacity of 6,050MW, total estimated capital of VND 259,030 billion in the area of coastal mudflats from East to West. In addition, there is potential for solar power, biomass, gas, timber power that are interested in investors to register for the project
Ca Mau has 254km of coastline, accounting for 1/3 of the coastline in the Mekong Delta. With about 280,000 ha of Brackish Water Shrimp Farming, shrimp production accounts for 29% of shrimp production in Mekong Delta and 22% of the country's shrimp production. Some typical seafood processing and exporting enterprises of the province such as Minh Phu, CASES, Camimex, ... have high competitiveness in the international market. Ca Mau seafood products are exported to more than 40 countries and territories including many large and fastidious markets such as the US, EU, Japan, Korea, etc. ... The main export products of Ca Mau is frozen seafood
Together with over 100,000 hectares of tram forest, typical mangrove forests have been recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve and Ramsar world. Mui Ca Mau national tourist area is focusing on building and developing according to the master plan until 2030. In the sea there are Hon Khoai, Hon Chuoi and Hon Da Bac islands, the end of Ho Chi Minh road in the sea ... In 2019, the province was allowed to open many tours connecting sea tourism from the coast to the island in the inland waters, creating motivation to exploit sea and island tourism and connecting other provinces in the region. Currently, the province is exploiting the tours of Ca Mau - Nam Du - Phu Quoc and is calling for investment in a project to connect and develop tourism products on the R10 route with Thailand and Cambodia. The province has unique cultural characteristics and converges factors to develop different types of island and geographic tourism; eco-tourism, leisure tourism and cultural-festival tourism. In 2019, the province welcomed 1,673,000 tourists including 28,800 international tourists, the revenue reached VND 2,495 billion.
Ca Mau province has strengths in developing renewable energy (wind power, solar power, biomass electricity, gas power ...); travel; hi-tech agriculture and aquaculture; forestry with an area of 164,000 ha of which production forest is 54,000 ha with great production potential and investment project on Hon Khoai general port. It suggests to get the investment in these projects in Ca Mau province if having the interest from Malaysian companies and investors
The strength of Ca Mau province is in agriculture and fishery production but the value of export turnover to Malaysia is low (only USD 5,000 in 2019), mainly fresh frozen squid products). As Malaysia is having a demand for agricultural and food products, the two sides have great potential to boost trade. It suggests to research, cooperate and expand the trading between Ca Mau and Malaysia if having the interest from Malaysian companies and investors
Ca Mau have been recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve and Ramsar world. Promote cooperation in tourism development, cultural exchanges between the two sides by introducing Ca Mau as tourism destination in Malaysia and vice versa
