/First of all thank you for featuring me in Affluent Luxe World. Personal introductions first off, I am Angeline Wong from Hong Leong Assurance Berhad. I joined the insurance industry since 2012. I was a housewife before I stepped into the industry. It was a big challenge for me as before I was merely a housewife taking care of children. My life has changed prior joining the industry. I achieved my first MDRT award during my second year and persisted until now. I set it as a target every month with motivation, persistence and patience.
“On behalf of the audience, what is Million Dollar Round Table or in short, MDRT? What are the qualifying criteria and requirements in order to be conferred with MDRT titles?”
/Million Dollar Round Table is an international recognition. The criteria of getting an MDRT is about RM500k per annum of sales for the past 10 years. I achieved the Early Bird Top Of Table (TOT 2022) within 6 months with 2 million sales during the pandemic. I completed my TOT-1 time (Top Of Table), COT-1 time (Court Of Table) and MDRT-6 time (Million Dollar Round table) in total of 8 times in MDRT. My next mission is moving towards achieving 10 times MDRT in my career.
“As 8-times MDRT achievers, please share with us your past experiences meeting different customers; kindly share with our audience among the Top Three experiences you had in the past.”
/One of the Top Three experiences that I had in the past was with a client being a doctor. I was not the first agent whom he met. He told me he bought the policies from me due to my persistency. He is truly my all time supporter in my insurance career. He signed up 2 policies for his kids with a total of RM200k premium yearly. After one year, he topped up the premium with a total amount of RM3 million in 6 years with entire premium of RM500k yearly. Unfortunately, I was told by his wife about the bad news when attending his funeral. I was very sad and helped his family to sort out the insurance claim process.
The second most memorable experience was when three directors bought 3 policies from me with a total RM150k premium per annum. One of the directors suffered health condition issue which made it hard for him to apply for insurance. I did my best in due course within the professional code of practice in the insurance industry. Finally, our company approved his insurance coverage.
The third most memorable experience was when the client being a diabetic surgery specialist doctor from Taiping. The first time I called him, he was having a conference meeting in Penang. I took flight to Penang just to meet him. He was surprised and ultimately both of us built very good relationship. After constant follow up, he came to KL and signed up for the policy of RM 100k per annum. He favour my service; whenever he needs a medical check-up in Taiping; I will arrange my time to accompany him despite the trust and support given to me.
“Customer relationship management is vital in your industry and indeed significant towards establishing the trust and confidence with the customers. How did you master the skills in CRM? What are the main skills set deemed good references to our audience?”
/Well, my only motto is being sincere with all clients. I always ensure prompt services to all my clients who need me. Always build a strong relationship with clients in order to gain the ‘TRUST’. When they like you they will fully support you.
“You have just gave birth to one beautiful baby girl. How do you define motherhood?”
/I didn’t expect having a daughter at my old age. Thank God, for his blessing in giving me a beautiful daughter like an angel. I want to thank my parents for helping me to take care of my daughter when I am working so that I can concentrate on my work. I will always spend quality time with my daughter during the weekends.
Ever since Ines was born, I am thankful to God for granting me a family. I wish I can become fully independent and successful woman to my beautiful angel; become a role model to her when she grown up.
“You married to a French guy. On behalf our female audiences, how did you manage cultural differences?”
/We are from two different countries with different culture, hobbies, food preference and others. Our characters are actually very different from each other. Good communication, understanding, tolerance, caring, love and trust are among the key success factors in maintaining a blossom relationship. As ordinary human, we are all equal with strengths and weaknesses. As long as we tolerate such differences by learning from each other, we will become better in the future. Overall, am blessed with all the gifts given to me and my family.
